Home Sweet Home

Tuesday May 12th and Wednesday May 13th were a blur.

Tuesday there were some ups and downs. I got to start breast feeding Tuesday morning. He was still passing bloody stools so the thought of him being alergic to my milk was considered. When the Doctors did their rounds to make assessments they discussed Dr. B's findings and the continued monitoring they would do to make sure there was no signs of reoccurance. They gave us an estimate of 3-5 more days in the NICU! After 3 days of no sleep that news was a downer for me. We had lots of visitors!

Wednesday's Doctor rounds turned out much better. Duncan's blood counts were going up and his stools were back to normal. They thought we could leave as early as Thursday afternoon! We also got very good news - they decided that Duncan could stay in the "Family Bonding" room with us so that I didn't have to set an alarm to get up and feed him. They put him in a mobile crib with a heart rate monitor and he moved into the room with us. It was GREAT and I was actually able to get some sleep that night.

Thursday, May 14th

We were told at the Doctor's rounds today that Duncan's blood tests overnight were perfect and they would discharge us immediately! We got all the paperwork filled out and packed our bags and we were out of there by noon. On our way home the three of us stopped at Firehouse Subs for some lunch - Duncan's first outing.

It feels soooo great to be at home!
